29 CFR  1926.20(b)(2): Accident prevention responsibilities: Such programs shall provide for frequent and regular inspections of the job sites, materials, and equipment to be made by competent persons designated by the employers.  a.) On or about October 23, 2024, on the gas station pump canopy roof, the employer failed to ensure that a competent person conducted frequent and regular inspections of the job site. As a result, employees installing outriggers were exposed to a fall hazard of approximately 21 feet 2 inches due to the absence of a fall protection system.

29 CFR  1926.760(a)(1): Except as provided by paragraph (a)(3) of this section, each employee engaged in a steel erection activity who is on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge more than 15 feet (4.6 m) above a lower level shall be protected from fall hazards by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, positioning device systems or fall restraint systems.  a.) On or about October 23, 2024, the employer failed to ensure that employees engaged in installing steel outriggers on the pump canopy roof of a gas station while working on the unprotected sides and edge, were protected from fall hazards. As a result, employees were exposed to a fall hazard of approximately 21 feet 2 inches.
