29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems.  At a temporary jobsite located at 801 Iowa Street Lawrence, Kansas, employees were exposed to fall hazards.  Employees engaged in commercial gutter activities, walking, working on top of the carport, were exposed to fall hazards of approximately 10 feet from the top edge of the carport of the commercial site to the ground below.  Fall protection was not utilized.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface to which the ladder was used to gain access:  At the temporary jobsite located at 801 Iowa Street Lawrence, Kansas, employees engaged in commercial gutter activities were exposed to fall hazards of approximately 10 feet from the roof to the ground below in that the aluminum ladder used to access the roof did not extend at least 3 feet above the eve of the roof.
