29 CFR 1910.1001(j)(7)(iv): The employer did not provide, at no cost to employees who perform housekeeping operations in an area that contains presumed asbestos-containing material (PACM) and/or other asbestos-containing material (ACM), an asbestos awareness training course: (a) On or about December 9, 2024, and at times prior, at 1 Estate Hope, St. Croix, USVI - North Side of #6CDU, employees performed various housekeeping tasks such as dry sweeping throughout the facility where ACM and/or PACM debris was present. The employer did not train the employees on the hazards of asbestos. NOTE: Certification of abatement is not required for this citation item since it was submitted prior to citation issuance.

29 CFR 1910.1001(k)(8): The employer cleaned up waste and debris and accompanying dust in an area containing accessible or visibly deteriorated ACM and/or PACM by dry dusting, dry sweeping, or vacuuming without using high-efficiency particulate air filters: (a) On or about December 9, 2024, and at times prior, at 1 Estate Hope, St. Croix, USVI - North Side of #6CDU, the employer did not ensure that employees did not dry sweep visibly deteriorated floor containing asbestos. This condition exposed employees to an asbestos respiratory hazard that could result in chronic restrictive lung disease, asbestosis, lung cancer, and mesothelioma. NOTE: Certification of abatement is not required for this citation item since it was submitted prior to citation issuance.
