29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:  a) On or about January 07, 2025, the employer did not ensure methods of machine guarding were in place on the combo dump table exposing employees to a crushing/struck by hazard. Employees operate the hydraulic combo dump table during sausage production and sanitation procedures as a portion of the table lifts. No machine guards were in place with employees working within inches of the lifted table to reach in or under the combo table.  b) On or about January 07, 2025, the employer did not ensure methods of machine guarding were in place on the Famco link machine exposing employees to a caught in hazard. Employees operate the Famco link machine during sausage production without any effective machine guarding in place to prevent them from reaching into the open chain operated machine that continuously rotates and cuts the cased sausage into links.
