29 CFR  1926.501(b)(1): "Unprotected sides and edges." Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems.  On or about March 6, 2025, employees performing commercial construction activities were not protected from a fall, exposing the employees to a 13.5 foot fall.  Abatement documentation is required of this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).

29 CFR  1926.503(a)(1): The employer shall provide a training program for each employee who might be exposed to fall hazards. The program shall enable each employee to recognize the hazards of falling and shall train each employee in the procedures to be followed in order to minimize these hazards.  On or about March 6, 2025, employees performing commercial construction activities exceeding six feet were not provided training to recognize and minimize falls, exposing the employees to a 13.5 foot fall.  Abatement documentation is required of this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).

29 CFR  1926.1051(a): A stairway or ladder shall be provided at all personnel points of access where there is a break in elevation of 19 inches (48 cm) or more, and no ramp, runway, sloped embankment, or personnel hoist is provided.   On or about March 6, 2025, an employee used the rails of a scissors lift to access an upper landing that was greater than 19 inches in elevation, exposing the employee to a 13.5 foot fall.  Abatement documentation is required of this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
