29 CFR  1910.215(a)(4): Work rests. On offhand grinding machines, the employer did not ensure that work rests were used to support the work. They were not of rigid construction and designed to be adjustable to compensate for wheel wear. Work rests were not kept adjusted closely to the wheel with a maximum opening of one-eighth inch to prevent the work from being jammed between the wheel and the rest, which may cause wheel breakage. The work rest was not securely clamped after each adjustment.   a) Duffy's AIS LLC, 3130 Oneida Street, Sauquoit, NY - Maintenance Shop. On or about July 24, 2025, workers were permitted to operate a Porter Cable Bench Grinder without a work rest exposing the operator to struck-by hazards and impalement of abrasive debris should the wheel shatter during operation.
