29 CFR  1926.28(a):The employer is responsible for requiring the wearing of appropriate personal protective equipment in all operations where there is an exposure to hazardous conditions or where this part indicates the need for using such equipment to reduce the hazards to the employees.  On or before August 22, 2025, at the St. Charles Parish Hospital located at 1057 Paul Maillard Road Lulling, LA in STE 2240 an employee was installing light switches in wall outlets without deenergizing electrical wiring. An employee was electrocuted after contact with live wiring while installing a light switch without gloves resulting in the death of that employee.

29 CFR  1926.416(a)(1): No employer shall permit an employee to work in such proximity to any part of an electric power circuit that the employee could contact the electric power circuit in the course of work, unless the employee is protected against electric shock by deenergizing the circuit and grounding it or by guarding it effectively by insulation or other means.  On or before August 22, 2025, at the St. Charles Parish Hospital located at 1057 Paul Maillard Road Lulling, LA in STE 2240 an employee was installing light switches in wall outlets without utilizing personal protective equipment or insulated tools. An employee was electrocuted after contact with live wiring while installing a light switch without gloves resulting in the death of that employee.
