29 CFR 1910.215(b)(9): The distance between the abrasive wheel periphery(s) and the adjustable tongue or the end of the safety guard peripheral member at the top exceeded one fourth inch. PMC Northern Victor, Maintenance Shop: On or about February 26, 2026, and at times prior thereto employees performing maintenance activities utilizing a JET Bench Grinder (Serial Number IBG-8) mounted on a stand were exposed to penetrating injuries in that the distance between the abrasive wheel and tongue guard exceeded 1/4 inch. Employee(s) were potentially exposed to projectile and/or amputation hazard(s). OSHA Instruction: Shipyard Employment "Tool Bag" Directive - CPL 02-00-162 allows for the applicability of 29 CFR 1910.215(b)(9) in the ship building and ship repair industry.
