Cornerstone Construction of Janesville, Inc.

An employee was part of a crew engaged in dismantling a mast climber type scaffold. The crew was attempting to fully retract the power unit grab hooks to clear the scaffold mast so it could be removed. One employee was positioned at the controls for the power unit while the injured employee knelt down next to the mast to control/verify the position of the hooks. The grab hook inadvertently contacted one of the rungs of the mast, causing it to tip over and strike the injured employee. The employee suffered broken ribs as well as a broken pelvis and sacrum, requiring hospitalization.
