A diesel mechanic was repairing the marker lights on a box truck. He was entering the body of the truck through the rear door when the gate chain caught his right hand and pulled it into the lift gate chain and roller, crushing the middle finger. The employee was hospitalized, needing surgery; the middle fingertip was amputated and the ring finger required pins.
