Employees were installing a 36-inch auger bore under a railroad. A 40-foot length of casing and auger had just been lowered so it could be connected to the previously installed length. The casing moved unexpectedly and pinched an employee's left thumb between a block of wood and the boring machine. The employee was hospitalized, undergoing surgery to the thumb.
