A truck driver backed up to a door at a front dock. He alighted from the truck and proceeded to the dock area. He then engaged the dock plate lever, but the transition plate did not flip up. The driver then went into his truck, secured a strap, attached it to the lip of the dock plate and pulled back. He lost balance, slipped and fell back, using his right hand to break his fall. He sustained a fractured right wrist.
