An employee was using a battery-powered circular saw to cut a piece of high-density plastic to make a ceiling tile. The saw would not start after the battery was replaced. The employee tried two different batteries. While adjusting the trigger, the saw started and the blade contacted the employee's left middle finger, amputating it from the cuticle to the tip.
