An employee went to prop open the door to a fire escape near an oven. As they opened the door and stepped out onto the fire escape, the wind caught the door and caused the employee to lose their balance. They struck the fire escape railing with their left side then fell on their side, resulting in five broken ribs and a punctured lung.
