An employee was troubleshooting a process line. The metering valve was removed, but residual pneumatic energy was still present in the supply line. The employee was dislodging debris in the butterfly valve. Once the debris was dislodged, the valve closed, catching the employee's left middle finger and causing a fingertip amputation.
