An employee was conducting a paper test after changing a roll on the assembly line when paper began jamming at the outfeed conveyor. As the employee was clearing the jam, their right thumb was caught in the nip point between a belt and a drive gear resulting in degloving injuries. The tip of their thumb was surgically amputated.
