An employee was troubleshooting/performing maintenance on a wire strander machine. While working to fix the bobbin lock, the spring and ball bearing broke while the employee's left index finger was inside the thread hole. This caused the bobbin lock to come down onto the employee's finger, resulting in partial amputation.
