Before the incident

Associate was waiting on his parked lift truck to receive work instructions from the expeditor.

What happened

I was told an associate was hit in the face with a scan gun. Upon arrival I found that the associate had a cut over the right eye the injured associate was sitting on a parked lift truck and another associate pedestrian standing beside the parked lift was pulling on his scan gun and let it go which caused the scan gun to recoil back to its home position on the lift truck striking the associate on the forehead resulting in the injury. First aid care was provided in the form of compression to the wound with paper towels. The associate was seen by the facility nurse and it was determined that he needed additional treatment and was sent to a off-site clinic for follow up care. The lift truck was sanitized for any traces of blood that may have been present.
