Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were
free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death
or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to
multiple injuries from being struck by a motor vehicle while operating
a forklift on a public street:
a) Along McCallister Street, Hanover, PA - Employee(s) operating fork
trucks, loading and unloading trucks were not provided with
protection from vehicular traffic with loading zone signs or strobe
light, on or about December 7, 1989.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is to use a flagman to direct traffic.
