Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which
were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were
exposed to:
a.  Health care workers such as Habitation Specialists were
exposed to the hazard of being infected by HIV or HBV through possible
direct contact with contaminated linens due to exposure from changing
and laundering contaminated linens.
A feasible and useful abatement method for reducing this hazard
is:
1. Place the contaminated laundry in bags or containers labeled
or color coded.
b.  Health care workers such as Habitation Specialists were
exposed to the hazard of being infected by HIV or HBV through possible
direct contact with blood or other body fluids due to exposure from
giving baths, administering first-aid, controling a behavior, or
changing and laundering contaminated linens.
A feasible and useful abatement method for reducing this hazard
is:
1.  All such employees and any other exposed employees shall
be made aware that hepatitis B vaccinations are made availabl e
free of charge in amounts and at times prescribed by
standard medical practices.
