Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of
1970:  The employer did not furnish employment and a place of
employment which were free from recognized hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees were exposed to:
(a)  Roof Area, between column lines 6.8 and 10.2:
Ironworkers connecting steel beams and installing metal
decking were exposed to an impalement hazard presented by
the  vertical (angle iron) of the guardrail system for the
open-sided floors below which formed the atrium.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement
method to correct this hazard is to cover the tops of the
verticle posts with lumber to form a continuous top railing.
