Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to serious injuries while working in proximity to an unguarded engine fan. A feasible method to correct this problem would be to install the proper engine fan guard. A) Jobsite - front of ship yard, pipe line area: Employee was exposed to serious injury while working in close proximity to an unguarded engine fan on the CAT 980 B front end loader.
