Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Shop area - On or about June 29, 1995, the employees working in the south east, south and northwest areas of the shop were required to work under fully extended hydraulic lifts with defective safety locking devices, thereby exposing the employees to the hazards of being struck by a vehicle or caught between vehicle and the floor if the lift mechanically failed. A feasible method of correcting the hazard is to conform to the specifications referenced in ANSI "B153.1 Section 3.1.10/1994."
