Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to direct contact with compressed air: THE ALLEGED VIOLATIONS BELOW (1a AND 1b) HAVE BEEN GROUPED BECAUSE THEY INVOLVE SIMILAR OR RELATED HAZARDS THAT MAY INCREASE THE POTENTIAL FOR INJURY AND/OR ILLNESS. (a) Production Area - Employee(s) used compressed air to clean themselves off exposing them to eye and ear injuries and the introduction of air into the bloodstream, on or about October 29, 1992. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to prohibit this practice and to substitute a vacuum cleaner system of cleaning themselves off.
