Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to the hazard of an explosion/fire from aluminum dust.
a.  On or about 12/02/98 the following was observed in the building 2
sanding
area:   Employees perform abrasive sanding on aluminum parts generating
aluminum dusts.The dust is collected in a Uniran 2000 dry type collector
operated inside the work area.
Among other methods one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is to install the dry type collector outside the
building in
accordance with the NFPA 65.
Abatement documentation is required for this violation.ion
