Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to structural hazards of the building:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a riesgos estructurales del edificio:
a) At the building of the Department of the Family - Regional Office in
Arecibo , where 126
employees performed clerical and administrative tasks, the place of
employment presented some
deficiencies in its structure that attempt the life and property. It had
great fissures at walls and
roof and other hazard is the psychological stress of work in such
conditions.
One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct
hazards can be a
structural study of the building by a certified engineer, to establish all
hazards and determine if
the building is safe and correction of the hazards.
a) En el edificio del Departamento de la Familia - Oficinas Regionales en
Arecibo, donde
trabajan 126 empleados que realizan tareas clericales y administrativas,
el lugar de empleo
presenta ciertas deficiencias en su estructura que atentan contra la vida
y propiedad. Tiene
grandes grietas en las paredes y techos y otro riesgo es el estres
psicologico al trabajar en estas
condiciones.
Un metodo viable y aceptable, entre otros metodos que se pueden utilizar
para corregir los
riesgos existentes es un estudio estructural del edificio por un ingeniero
certificado, para
establecer todos los riesgos y determinar si el edificio es seguro y estos
riesgos
sean corregidos.
