Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to the hazard of being struck by trusses that had not been
adequately braced:
a) Village Greens, residential construction site, Evesham Twp., N.J. -
Employees
setting trusses were exposed to the hazard of being struck by the trusses.
The
trusses were braced to the inside only. On or about 08/28/98.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct
this hazard is to ensure that the trusses are adequately braced following
the
recommendations of the Truss Plate Institute, Summary Sheet H1B-91 entitled
"Commentary and Recommendations for handling, installing and bracing metal
plate, connected wood trusses."
ABATEMENT NOTE: In Accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19, Abatement Verification,
the
employer will furnish certification that the described hazard has been
abated. Documentation
may include but is not limited to photographs, videos, work orders,
invoices, training records
and consultant reports. Abatement documentation must be received by the
Area Director within
13 calendar days of the final abatement date for this violation.
