Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards: a)North Bay, Warehouse 1 - On or about 03/13/08, hooks on overhead cranes had damaged safety latches which prevented proper closing of the safety latch. b)South Bay, Warehouse 1 - On or about 03/13/08, hooks on overhead cranes had damaged safety latches which prevented proper closing of the safety latch. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to comply with the requirements of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Standard ASME B30.10-1993, Hooks, Section 10-1.2.3(c-d).
