Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
At office areas - employees have to work in cubicles of aproximately 5' X
6' surrounded with
piles of office material; archives had box stackings on top where walking
space was limited to
two feet aproximately.
Hazard:  Stress, trips and falls, and allergies from acucmulation of dust.
Among others methods, one feasible and acceptable method is to provide
suitable place where
employees can transit and work without physical barriers.
En areas de oficina - empleados tienen que trabajar en cubiculos de
aproximadamente 5' X 6'
rodeados de pila de material de oficina; archivos tienen cajas apiladas
sobre estos donde se limita
el espacio para caminar a dos pies aproixmadamente.
Riesgo:  Tension, tropezones y caidas, y alergias por la acumulacion de
polvo.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo factible y aceptable es proveer un lugar
adecuado donde los
empleados puedan transitar y trabajar sin barreras fisicas.

At desk area - employees were working in office tasks where the
illumination measures were
between 19 and 70 footcandles.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the
hazard is to provide
illumination at 100 footcandles as recomended by the American National
Standard Institute of
the standard for office lighting A132.1-1973.
Hazard:  Eye injuries, fatigue.
En el area del escritorio - empleados estaban trabajando en tareas de
oficina donde las medidas
en  iluminacion eran entre 19 - 70 "footcandles".
Entre otros metodos, un metodo factible y aceptable de corregir el riesgo
es de proveer
illuminacion a 100 "footcandles" segun recomendado por el American
National Standard Institute
de la norma para illuminacion en oficinas A132.1-1973.
Riesgo:  Lesiones a los ojos, fatiga.s
