Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Graceland Court Town homes, Chicago, IL 60613 - On or about October 26, 1998, two employee(s) were exposed to the hazard of falling between approximately 20 and 25 feet to the ground below while working out of a Snorkelift (s/n 838055) and a Grovemanlift (s/n 838034) Self Propelled Aerial Work Platform without utilizing their personal fall protection. This condition last existed on October 26, 1998. Among other methods, one feasible and useful method to correct the hazard is to develop, implement and enforce a work rule such as stipulated in American National Standards Institute A92.5-1992 "American National Standard for Boom- Supported Elevating Work Platforms." 8.3(g) - Ensure all personnel in the platform are wearing fall protection devices and other safety gear as required at all times. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
