Title 40.1 - 51.1(a), Code of Virginia: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that the upstairs secretary work stations had light levels below the 70 - 100 Foot candles required as a minimum for the type of work being performed at those location. Secretary #1 - lower computer desk = 30 Fc, Upper main desk = 50 Fc. " One feasible and acceptable method of abatement, among others, to correct this hazard is to replace burnt out flourescent lights in the area and/or to provide an adequate number of desk lamps".
