Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
a. Receive serious injuries due to employees who were shoveling ice inside
machine
"Tansfer Bin" (ice maker) model #20, serial # not visible located in north
site of
establishment.  The machine had three levels: (a) 84"W x 30"h (b) 84" w x
19"h, (c) 60"
w x 20" h; the second level had three wiredrawer with 16 blades each one.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazard is to prohibit the employees enter inside the machine.
a. Recibir lesiones serias debido a empleados que estaban paleando hielo
dentro de la
maquina "Transfer Bin" (maquina de hacer hielo) modelo #20, numero de
serie no
visible, localizada al lado norte del establecimiento.  La maquina tenia
tres niveles:  (a)
84" ancho x 30 "de alto, (b) 84" ancho x 19" alto, (c) 60" ancho x 20
"alto; el segundo
nivel tenia tres hileras con 16 cuchillas cada una.
Entre otros metodos, uno factible y aceptable para corregir este riesgo es
prohibir que
los empleados entren dentro de la maquina.
