Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm:
At a well site controlled by Tres Management, Inc., a derrick hand was
fatally injured when he
fell approximately 108 feet with the derrick after guywire anchors
"deadman" pulled loose
causing the derrick to collapse.  The controlling employer did not protect
employee(s) from the
recognized hazard of possible derrick collapse by inspecting ground
conditions around the
anchors that might indicate reduced anchor capacity.
