Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the operation of an underhung hoist system with pendant control boxes that were not constructed to prevent electrical shock and pushbuttons were not clearly marked for identification of functions: The employer failed to ensure that the 1,000 lbs. underhung hoist system located in the channel department confirmed to ANSI B30.11-1980: (A)Pushbuttons were not marked for identification of functions, exposing employees to caught in between and struck by load hazards with potential injuries including sprains, lacerations, and fractures. (B)The top pushbutton was damaged, exposing employees to potential electrical shock hazards by contact with the underlying conductor.
