The employees did not utilize Policy and Procedures. The employees and management open the man-way of a rotating dryer releasing sodium sulfide without a proper permit. The employees were not properly protected from the hazards. It provided Minimum Protective Equipment and Special Safety Protective Equipment (safety glasses, chemical goggles, full coverage suits to include hoods). It also states to treat opening lines or equipment as though they were under pressure and always wear appropriate PPE. It further states when breaking lines to place canvas or plastic shield over flange or line to safe guard against spraying or splashing of hazardous materials. Disclaimers: 1. You are not limited to the abatement methods suggested above. 2. The methods explained are general and may be not effective in all cases. 3.
