Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to: the hazard of the rotary lifts with a vehicle on the lift
falling on employee(s)
while working underneath them.
(a)  At the Big 10 Tire Store #74, Located at 11114 South Memorial Parkway,
Huntsville, AL., the safety cables/devises on three rotary lifts in the
maintenance bay were not
operational.  Employees are exposed to the hazard of the rotary lift with
a vehicle falling on
them.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method would be to ensure
that proper
maintenance is preformed on each rotary lift and daily inspections of
safety cables and devises
to ensure that they are operational.
