North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)establishment, automotive service area - Automotive lift locks located on the alignment shaft of each lift, which are designed to engage automatically when lift is placed at its' designed operating height, do not engage. "Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to maintain housekeeping procedures, conduct employee training and provide for periodic inspections by the employer." Ref: American National Standards Institute, B153.1 - 1990, 4.1.4., 7.7.2. and 7.3.
