AS 18.60.075(a)(4): An employer shall do everything necessary to protect the life, health and safety of employees including, but not limited to furnishing to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards which, in the opinion of the commissioner, are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees. EXAMPLE: The employer failed to provided a safe, manufacturer approved, high pressure plant (supply) air transportation system, resulting in exposure to serious hazards from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) piping used as a delivery for line pressure at 100 p.s.i. PVC pipes are prohibited from above ground transportation of compressed air and gas (unless encased in a shatter resistant material). Employees are exposed to hazards from exploding, plastic shrapnel pieces, and uncontrolled release of hose fittings plugged into wall mounted receivers at eye level.
