Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:
The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a
place of employment
which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to
cause death or serious
physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crane
collapse.
On or about 01/ 28/03 employees were exposed to the hazards associated
with collapse of the
crane tower and jib when it was used where there were obstructions that
could affect safe
operations
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is to insure that
the lift area is clear of obstructions as per the A.N.S.I Standard
B30.5-1968 Sec. Sec.5-3.2.3
