Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that
employees were exposed to the hazard of collapse and being caught between:
(a) Gowen Field Chapel Construction Site: On November 19, 2003, employee(s)
working from ladders installing trusses with a span of 33 feet 4 inches
that
were not adequately braced.
Note: Abatement certification and supporting documentation are required
for this
item.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazard is to follow the guidelines for temporary bracing set forth by the
warning
poster from the Wood Truss Council of America.
