Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to:
a)Repair Area:  Employer did not ensure that operators of automotive lifts
such as
the Joyce Inground Hydraulic Automotive lifts were not adequately trained
on or
about December 17, 2003.
Abatement Note:  One feasible and acceptable abatement method is to 1)
Instruct employees in
safe use and operation of the lifts according to the ANSI/ALI ALOIM-2000.
2)  Perform
periodic inspections using a qualified inspector.  3)  Defective or
damaged lifts shall be marked
and placed out of service until repairs are conducted.
