Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazard: American National Standard Institute, of B30.5-1968, [revised 2004], Safety Code for Crawler, Locomotive and Truck Cranes Handling the load; "When loads which are limited by structural competence rather than stability are to be handled, the person responsible for the job shall ascertain that the weight of the load has been determined within plus or minus 10 percent before it is lifted".
