Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to falling from heights while using the boom of a crane as a
walking working
surface:
At the worksite located at 4104 LaVista Road in Tucker, Georgia, on or
about 03/14/05
employee was changing the bulbs in an illuminated outdoor advertising sign
while standing on
the boom of the truck mounted crane.  Employee was exposed to falling
between 15 and 20 feet.
Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct
this hazard are:
(a)Use a ladder to reach the work area.
(b)Use an apparatus which is designed for hoisting personnel as required
by
ANSI
B30.5-1994, consensus standard for Mobile and Locomotive Cranes.ive
