Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by and crushing hazards due to unrestraint loads with the potential to fall. a) Outside Service Area: An employee was permitted to operate the short-rise automotive lift without the required mechanical leg lock in working order, allowing the loaded lift to drop, on or about October 29, 2005. b) Outside Service Area: An employee was permitted to operate the short-rise automotive lift without the required mechanical leg lock in working order, on or about November 26, 2005. Abatement Note: One useful and feasible abatement method is to comply with the requirements of ANSI/ALI ALOIM-2000, Standard for Automotive Lifts - Safety Requirements for the Operation, Inspection and Maintenance in its entirety, with special emphasis on employee training and equipment inspection procedures. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIREDATION
