Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
At the Bacardi Corporation Facilty, the employees were replacing  the
hydraulic hose in
the crane Trade Mark Grove MFG; model TM- 1500, serial number 86945 to
connect
the bottle and retract the extension of the boom. While the crane's
operator moved the
boom without outriggers. The employer did not assure that the  crane had
the outriggers
fully extended before moving the boom as established by the manufacturer
manual.
Hazard: Overturning of the equipment.
Among other methods,feasibles and acceptables abatement method to correct
thIS hazard
are:
a)To  establish a written  procedure where the employer compromise to
follow the
manufacturer instructions.
b)Train the employees and supervisor about the importance to follow the
manufacturer instructions.
En las facilidades de Bacardi Corporation, los empleados estaban
reemplazando  las
mangas hidraulicas de la grua marca Grove MFG; modelo TM-1500, numero de
serie
86945 para conectar la botella y retraer las extensiones del puntal.
Mientras el operador
de la grua movio el puntal sin estabilizadores. El patrono no se aseguro
que la grua
tuviera los estabilizadores completamente extendidos antes de mover el
puntal como
establece el manual del  manufacturero.
Riesgo: Volcamiento del equipo.
En otros metodos, factibles y aceptables para corregir este riesgo son:
a)El establecer un procedimiento escrito donde el patrono se compromete a
seguir
las instrucciones del manufacturero.
b)Adiestrar el personal y supervisor sobre la importancia de seguir las
instrucciones
del manufacturero.
