Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:
The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a
place of employment
which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to
cause death or serious
physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:
On or about 4/20/05, on the east side of the roof, an employee was exposed
to a struck by
hazard because he was rotating a steel beam that was not secured at its
pivot point.  The exposed
employee was unable to secure the end of the beam at it's pivot point.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method is to
secure the steel beam
at its fulcrum before manually attempting to rotate it.
PLEASE NOTE:  CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS NOT REQUIRED FOR THIS
VIOLATION.
