Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from
recognized hazards
which were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in
that, employees
were exposed to falls while using the top step of a step ladder to access
the roof.
a) On or about October 17, 2006, the employer did not ensure that
employees were
protected from fall hazards while using a step ladder (top step) to access
the roof.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazardous condition would be to provide employees with an extension ladder
and training on
proper use of ladders.
Abatement Note:  Abatement certification and documentation is required for
this item
