Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment
which were free from
recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious
physical harm to
employees in that employees were exposed to falls from heights.
(a)Parts area - On or about 10/4/07, employees were being lifted at
heights of
between approximately 10 to 13 feet while standing on a pallet attached to
the
forks of the Nissan 3,000 pound forklift; Serial Number: KPH01A15P, to
reach
parts on the upper parts bins.  Hazard of falls from forks of lift.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this
hazard is:
To use an operator-up highlift truck (order picker, etc) to reach parts on
bins not within
employee reach.
