Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized
hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to the hazards of asphyxiation by engulfment:
(a)On or about 01/21/08 at the establishment located at 5117 Cottonseed
Rd., San
Angelo, TX, where an employee was buried beneath 5 feet of cotton seed:
Among others one feasible method of abatement is to develop, and implement
procedures to
instruct the employees not to be allowed into the tractor-trailer beds to
poke a pitchfork into the
cotton seed hoppers. Advise the cotton gins to install a shaker/vibrator
on the cotton seed hopper
to start the flow of cotton seed:n
