21 VSA Title 23, Chapter 3, Sub-chapter 5, Section 223 (a), Section 5 (a)
(1) of the Occupational Safety &
Health Act of 1970:  The employer did not furnish employment and a place
of employment which was free
from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious
physical harm to employees in that
employees were exposed to protruding steel, which was not guarded to
provide protection against the hazard
of impalement:
Location:     Day Lane - The Hamlet Williston, VT
Violation:     The employer failed to provide a place of employment which
was free from recognized hazards,
when steel projected out along the top of the foundation walls, which
would pierce an employee who were to
fall on it.
Among other methods, feasible and acceptable to correct the hazard include
but is not limited to:
a)  The protruding steel could be capped in the same manner as
rebar/reinforced steel
b)  Barricade the area so that employees would not be exposed to the
hazard
